RUMIKO HASEGAWA
Executive Director & Founder
Rumiko Hasegawa is a retired Goldman Sachs partner managing director. While she was working on the trading floor in Tokyo, she discovered a new passion for singing opera arias and performed at concert halls such as Kioi Hall in Tokyo.
After Rumiko moved to Hong Kong, she joined the board of Opera Hong Kong and chaired the marketing and audience development committee.
She was inspired by the idea of connecting the community by “the power of vocal music” and created the new company to present opera in an intimate and accessible way. She hopes she could share magic moments to a younger audience.
LUCY CHOI
Co-Founder
Born in Hong Kong, Lucy Choi is a classically trained musician, she obtained a music degree from the Hong Kong Baptist University, a master’s degree in Arts Administration from the Goldsmiths College, University of London, she has also completed her MBA at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2018.
Lucy has an extensive experiences in art administration and event management; her passion in classical music drove her to establish a Hong Kong based non-profit/ opera company, More Than Musical, together with an enthusiastic group that shares the same vision: to create imitate and unforgettable opera experiences to the general public. Lucy had been a Tedx speakers in both Hong Kong (TedxTinHauWomen) in 2017 and London (TedxLondonBusinessSchool) in 2018.
Sonia Ponnusamy

Sonia leads business development at a Hong Kong based hedge fund. She has 15 years of experience across accounting, investment banking, private equity and hedge funds.
Sonia has been a life-long opera lover. In addition, to her work with MTM, Sonia is the Chair of the 100 Women in Finance Gala.
SERENA PAU
Board of Directors
Serena is an award winning female entrepreneur in the tech industry with focus in Internet of Things and formerly featured by Economist Innovation Summit and Forbes. With her passion in “making things happen” and over 10 years of working experience in event management and strategy building, Serena believes she can contribute as a super coordinator at More than Musical. At her free time, she is also in charge of editing this beautiful website and helping the team to solve minor technical issues.
Serena first developed her love for performing art at the young age of 8 while she started to engage in school dramas and musicals performance.
JULIA NOULIN-MÉRAT
Creative Director
In addition to being More Than Musical's Creative Director, for the past eight years, Julia has been the Associate Producer at Boston Lyric Opera and is the co-Artistic Director of Guerilla Opera. Julia has worked on over 400 opera, theater, and television productions, including 25 new operas and 22 new plays, and is the principal designer at Noulin-Mérat Studio. Julia received OPERA America’s Women Opera Network mentorship distinction as well as the Leadership Intensive. Recent credit includes; Rigoletto (Minnesota Opera), Le Monde a l'Envers (Wolf Trap Opera), Tosca and Falstaff (Opera Omaha); Albert Herring (Curtis Institute); Gallo, Pedr Solis, and Troubled Water (Guerilla Opera); Sumeida’s Song and 27 (Pittsburgh Opera); The Kaiser of Atlantis (Atlanta Opera) and The Rake’s Progress, The Barber of Seville, and Pagliacci (BLO).
Leonard Fung
Head of Fund Raising Committee & Pending Board Member (August 2021)
Leonard Fung is an investment banker and a semi-professional singer. He performs actively and in 2017, played the role of Il Conte in the Maurizio’s Opera production of Le Nozze di Figaro in Naples. In November 2018, he made his Hong Kong solo recital debut, singing a combination of opera arias and lieder. In his university days, he served as a Choral Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford. Leonard is passionate about opera, and feels very privileged to be able to help further More Than Musical’s vision to broaden the audience for this wonderful art form. Leonard holds an MBA from INSEAD.
Marina Hoyle
Chair of Gala
Mrs. Marina Hoyle is the HR Director of Matthew Hoyle Financial Markets, an executive search firm serving the talent acquisition needs of hedge funds, banks, proprietary and high frequency trading firms.
As well as being “More than Musical” Gala Chair, Marina is the Logistics Chair for the “100 Women in Finance Hong Kong Gala”, a Board Member of the “Russian Club in Hong Kong”, and Committee member of the “Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club”. Her experience in fundraising and event organisation spans over a decade and focuses mainly on art and cultural events, challenging stereotypes, empowering women and addressing health and wellbeing issues for children.
